2026 Buffalo Urban League Scholars
“Buffalo Urban League awarded 119 Scholarships”
Buffalo, [MAY 20, 2026] —The Buffalo Urban League has awarded 119 scholarships, designed to support a student’s journey to college or vocational school. These high school seniors and recent HSE/GED students represent almost every school in Western New York!
Students will be attending every College and University locally as well as a few nationally: The University of Chicago; Boston College; RIT; PACE; Morgan State University; NYU; University of Maryland; Purdue and even Ohio State University… to name a few.
Brian Welsch, Vice President of National Fuel Gas Dist. Corp presented the National Fuel Scholarship: $15,000 each year for 4 years to an outstanding scholar, an opportunity for a single student to make their dream school a reality.
National Grid has once again stepped up, recognizing the value our young people and the importance of higher education, Kenneth Kujawa, Regional Director and BUL President & CEO Thomas Beauford, Jr. awarded 108 of the 119 scholarships to these outstanding students.
The Scholarship Ceremony was held, May 20, 2026, at 6 PM

2027 Scholarship Application will be available Fall 2026
Each year, the Buffalo Urban League awards scholarships to graduating high school students and recent HSE/GED recipients in our community to help them further their education and achieve their career goals. Recipients are determined by academic achievement, community service, character, and financial need. To be eligible for the Buffalo Urban League scholarship consideration you must be a High School Senior or recent HSE/GED recipient (within the current academic year), who plans to attend college or a vocational school in the fall of 2027.
